Dr. Jyotishka Datta, Assistant Professor of Statistics, joins CSR as Interdisciplinary Research Affiliate

Dr. Datta’s interests spans Bayesian methodology and theory for structured high-dimensional or infinite-dimensional objects. He has contributed to the area of large-scale simultaneous testing, shrinkage prior, sparse signal recovery, nonparametric Bayes, computational aspects of big data analysis, bioinformatics, applied probability, and default Bayes. Recent applications include next-gen sequencing studies, auditory neuroscience, robotics, social media, database security and crime forecasting.


Datta is excited to join the CSR team and is already embarking on a number of collaborative projects with Casey Harris (CSR co-director), Shaun Thomas, and Grant Drawve. These projects range from analyses of victimization risk, spatial temporal analyses of crime in local communities, and the contextual correlates of diverse health outcomes


On a more personal note, JD is an aspiring author, mostly writing fiction, poems and screenplay/scripts for theater. He also dabbles in drawing cartoons and caricatures, painting, and playing the guitar.
